Craft Fairs

A popular weekend activity for locals and visitors is to go shopping at open-air craft markets.  This time of year, a lot of organizations host craft fairs where dozens of vendors will display and sell their crafts.   My favorite thing to buy here is fabric and jewelry made with natural materials - shell, raffia, bone and coral.  I have had about 7 different dresses and skirts made by a great tailor I was introduced to and have bought some necklaces from a talented jewelry designer.  Both artisans I met through other teachers at the school.

Here are some pictures of the family at various craft villages and fairs around town.  Tomorrow evening, we are going to the  Christmas market at the Julius Berger compound (a German construction company.)
