Sydney, Matt and I had a great Columbus Day Weekend. Grandpa and Grandma S came into town on Saturday morning for a 3 day visit. We had brunch together at our favorite local brunch restaurant. Sydney was a good little girl through the entire meal. Next, we drove to the Spy Museum in the District. When we went to open the trunk to get out her Snap and Go stroller, we realized we had left it at the restaurant (under the stairs, where they make parents park their strollers.) oooops. Luckily, we had the Baby Bjorn to carry Sydney around the museum.
The museum was packed with tourists and 8th graders on their class trips. Not cool. What was cool, however was the museum and all the "stolen" spy artifacts. We were there for several hours learning about the KGB, Hollywood spies, the Atom Bomb, the Cold War etc. I highly recommend the Spy Museum in D.C. for adults and children alike.
On Friday evening, we had Mexican food for dinner and then Grandpa and Grandma gave Sydney her bath and helped ready her for bed.
Saturday morning was a gorgeous Fall day, albeit a little bit warmer than average. We had an early start driving down to Mount Vernon, George Washington's home. What a great place! In addition to the home, there are gardens, orchards, stables, a farm, a boat cruise down the Potomac (my favorite part), a colonial inn and restaurant and a museum/educational center.
We took Sydney in her Uppa Baby stroller (affectionally named the Tank) and it was able to easily handle the steep cobbled roads, dirt paths and off road conditions. She slept most of the morning, but was awake for the boat ride.
Sydney was on her best behavior all weekend long!
