Sydney is now 6 months old!
We will be celebrating her first Thanksgiving tomorrow with Daddy's family. They are very excited to spend a couple days enjoying time with Sydney. She is doing a lot of very cool new things.
First, Sydney is now an (almost) master of the unassisted sit. She sits on the floor all day long, playing with her toys in front of her. Her favorite toys are a soft bear (to chew on) and a soft ladybug (to chew on.) She is putting everything in her mouth....including other people's fingers, her own fingers, stuffed animals and blankets.
Next, Sydney is loving solid foods. Solid is a misnomer actually. She eats a lot of watery pureed veggies and fruits. Her absolute favorite are green beans. She flaps her hands, opens her mouth and pants (yes, like a dog) when she sees the spoon full of green goop coming at her. She has also eaten carrots (likes them a lot), rice cereal, sweet potato, yellow squash, applesauce (does not like), peaches and prunes (those are a fearful site a day later believe me.)
Sydney is full of noises and she has said her first word - Da Da. That was a stab to my heart, but I'm sure she will be saying Mama any day now. She loves to join into conversation by grunting, screaming with happiness and giggling.
She is smiling at everybody and is the happiest baby I know. She sleeps around 8 p.m. every night and is sleeping through the night. It seems that the sleepless nights of infancy are behind us. She doesn't even fall asleep in our arms anymore, rather she puts herself to sleep after her bedtime bottle.
Time flies, doesn't it?
