Sydney was baptized on Sunday, June 22. She wore a beautiful 90 year old hierloom gown that has been in Matt's family for 90 years! She is the first in the 4th generation to wear the gown and it looked beautiful on her.
She was asleep for the entire baptism and we were joined by our family and a few friends. Father Gavin Quinn did a thoughtful and touching ceremony that included blessings from the mothers, fathers and children in attendance. It was nice that Father Gavin was able to join us for both our marriage and now, Sydney's baptism. The pictures above show Sydney with her Godfather (my brother) and her Godmother (Matt's sister).
After the church, there was a BIG party back at the house. We combined my family, Matt's family and all of their friends. I would estimate about 70 people showed up. Grandma S. and Grandma M. had great food catered - Chicago classics like roast beef sandwiches, Italian pastas and Filipino dishes like noodles, egg rolls and desserts. My mouth is watering right now just thinking about it. The weather was somewhat cooperative, but it did sprinkle a little bit toward the end. Uncle Andrew was the bartender and my sorority sisters enjoyed the heavily spiked margaritas.
Sydney had a great time being cuddled by all of her aunts, uncles and friends of the family. She slept like a baby later that night despite everyone's claims that "she's not going to sleep a wink tonight."
Overall, the day was great fun filled with love from family and friends. And of course, LOTS of presents!
